Verse 46 of Analects of Confucius Chapter 14

English: Yuan Rang was waiting and squatting at ease. Confucius said:"When young, behave without humility and does not show brotherly love. When grown up, did nothing commendable. When old, still cheating death. What a menace!" Confucius tapped Yuan Rang's small thigh with his stick.

Modern: 原壤^(一)随意蹲坐着等候孔子。孔子说：“少时，不谦逊，不敬爱兄弟，长大后，没有可以称述的地方，年老了又不死去，真是害人。” 孔子以手杖敲他小腿。

Original: 原壤夷俟。子曰：“幼而不孙弟，长而无述焉，老而不死，是为贼。”以杖叩其胫。
