English: Confucius said:"Lead through policies, discipline through punishments, people may be restrained but without a sense of shame. Lead through virtue, discipline through rites, and there will be a sense of shame and conscientiously improve."

Modern: 孔子曰：“用政治来领导人，用刑法来整齐人，人可避免刑罚但无可耻之心。若把德来领导人，把礼来整齐人。人人将感有可耻之心，自能真确地到达在上者所要他们到达的方向去。”
