Verse 22 of Analects of Confucius Chapter 11

English: Confucius was under sieged at Kuang⁽¹⁾, Yan Yuan fell behind. Confucius said:"I thought you were dead." Yan Yuan said:"While you, Teacher, are still alive, how would I dare to die?"

Modern: 孔子在匡邑遭到围攻^(一)，颜渊落在后面。孔子说：“我以为你已经死了。” 颜渊答道：“老师还在世，颜回怎敢死去。”

Original: 子畏于匡，颜渊后。子曰：“吾以女为死矣！”曰：“子在，回何敢死！”
