Verse 11 of Analects of Confucius Chapter 16

English: Confucius said:"'To feel not his equal when meeting a great man, to feel as though the hand is scalded when meeting a bad man.' I have heard such saying and seen such a person. 'To live in seclusion to keep with aspirations. To act with righteousness in keeping to the Way.' I have heard such a saying but have yet to see such a person."

Modern: 孔子说：“‘见善良的人，就觉得有点不及此人，见到不善的人，就像触摸到沸水一样’。我见过这样的人，听过这样的话。‘为求完成志向去隐居，为求达到大道，而行义理’。我听过这样的话，但未见这样的人。”

Original: 孔子曰：“见善如不及，见不善如探汤。吾见其人矣。吾闻其语矣。隐居以求其志，行义以达其道。吾闻其语矣，未见其人也。”
