During the Three Kingdoms Period, Zhuge Liang died during the sixth Shu's expedition against the Northern Territories. Before Zhuge Liang died, he passed instruction to his disciple Jiang Wei on how to retreat the troops so that they would not be attacked by the Wei soldiers. When Zhuge Liang died, Jiang Wei ordered that no funeral should not be held and the Shu soldiers to make a retreat. Sima Yi on hearing that the Shu troops are retreating, personally led his troops to chase after the Shu army.
